MAHDIA is situated on the eastern coast in the centre of the republic of Tunisia. It is a peninsula, stretched in the Mediterranean, and surrounded by three seas. It has a mild climate that is usually affected by the Mediterranean air currents. It is 200 km, far from Tunis, the capital. Its economy basically relies on agriculture and on fishing. But, thanks to its location on a 75-km-long coast, tourism also plays an important role in its economic activities.
